What means polyglot?

People with a passion for languages will quickly come across the word «polyglot». But what does that even mean? The word comes from the Greek language and is a compound of the two words «poly» (much) and «glótta» (language). Or, to put it more simply, «polyglot» describes people who can speak multiple languages.

There is no rule for a certain minimum number of languages to consider or call oneself a Polyglot. Many people share the opinion that there should be at least three languages. I don’t know anyone who is bilingual and calls himself a Polyglot.
