Thirty years ago, the director of CERN (Conseil européen pour la recherche nucléaire) in Geneva released the Internet as we know it to the public. This step changed our life significantly. Before, it was a network only usable for experts. But the launch of the Mosaic-Browser, developed by a student of the University of Illinois, made it accessible to the public.
